Raleigh is known as the “City of Oaks” for its many oak trees, and the symbol for the city is the acorn. It is the second most populous city in North Carolina after Charlotte. Charlotte has become a major U.S. financial center with many of America’s largest financial institution by assets, Bank of America and others call the city home.
